Dog Game is an experimental interactive game project centered on the everyday behavior, personality, and unpredictability of a pet dog.
Players control a puppy inspired by one of my own dogs and explore an environment through playful activities such as chasing squirrels, running through obstacles, digging, disrupting flower beds, and getting into the kinds of trouble dogs naturally seem to find. As the game progresses, players can also teach the dog tricks and develop new abilities.
The project explores character-based interaction, animal behavior, humor, environmental storytelling, and emotionally engaging game design. Rather than focusing on competition or combat, the experience was designed around affection, play, curiosity, and the relationship people develop with their pets.
The game was commercially released and sold more than 105,000 copies during its first year before eventually being discontinued by the publisher.
